Service summary

We are an early intervention service for child and adolescent mental health. Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs) and Outreach Workers form part of our Mental Health Support Teams (MHSTs).

The EMHPs provide individual and group sessions to children, young people and parents in our partner schools. They also work collaboratively with schools on the Whole School Approach (WSA), which comprises mental health awareness, staff training, consultation and other projects to improve staff and pupil mental health and wellbeing.

The Outreach Team as part of the Project Me Mental Health Support Team works within the community to raise awareness of mental health issues and promote healthy mental wellbeing. They also help children, young people and families, who might otherwise find it difficult to access mental health support, by introducing them to other local professionals, charities and organisations. The Outreach Team works with all young people across Swindon who are between the ages of 5 and 19, including young people who are not in education, employment or training or are electively home educated.

Our projects include (but are not limited to):

  • Online wellbeing programme for the following age categories – 7-11 and 9-12.
  • College enrichment sessions at both campuses
  • Sign-posting for children, young people and their families
  • Pop up community events
  • Personal development days (within all Swindon Secondary schools)
  • Competitions
  • Holiday programmes
  • Work with local schools to provide one off mental health and wellbeing events (such as taking part in a parent signposting event for mental health support, and providing mental health and wellbeing activities at summer fayres)

You can fill out the online referral form: Consent form for Project Me Outreach Team (office.com)

Further information

Who can refer?

At the moment we are only able to offer a service to children and young people in our partner schools. Please contact your school; they will be able to refer you or your child on your behalf.
If you are a teenager attending one of our secondary schools or colleges you can also self-refer. Ask your school for a referral form or contact us directly by telephone or email.  Once we receive the referral, a member of our triage team will contact you.
Please contact us for further information on our outreach programme.

What happens for transition to adulthood?

We are working with young people up to the age of 19. If further support is required, we will liaise with the relevant services to support the transition.

For more information please view the The Outreach Team leaflet.

Client groups

The service is for children and young people aged 5-19, their parents and schools. We provide short-term low intensity CBT interventions (6-8 sessions), individually or in groups, to help with emerging and mild-to moderate mental health difficulties such as anxiety, low mood, exam stress, worries, friendship problems.  Parents of younger children can receive support through parenting interventions and parent-led CBT. We work closely with other Swindon services to ensure that children and young people receive the right kind of support.
