Learning Disabilities and Autism are part of the NHS Long Term Plan. NHS England and Improvement have a programme called transforming care that is all about making health and care services better so that more people with a learning disability, autism or both can live in the community with the right support and close to home. If a child or young person with a diagnosis of LD or autism is at risk of being admitted to a mental health hospital then there is a process called a Care and Education Treatment Review to support them. You can read more about this here: Care and education treatment review's (CETR's).
